Mid-South Bunk Beds is owned and operated by me, Richard. I'm a former cube worker who took the plunge and started my own business. Before making a living in sawdust I spent over 10 years in Information Technology. I worked for some of America's biggest companies developing and managing IT projects. During that time I always had a strong itch to be my own boss. Being a business owner has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Deciding on the right business has been the difficult part. So why am I building bunk beds? That's easy to answer;

I enjoy making things for others to enjoy.

I've been working with my hands and creating things for as long as I can remember. Before stumbling into building furniture I volunteered (and still do) to build homes with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis. I've spent many years building with Habitat and meet a lot of interesting people. I've recently been introduced to Service Over Self Memphis (SOS). SOS remodels homes in Binghampton and Orange Mound. I'll be working with SOS this summer overseeing remodels.

I started in woodworking from Mr. Floyd at The Woodwork Shop. Since taking his class I couldn't find enough projects to keep me busy. About a year after taking his class I decided to merge my love of working with my hands and started a woodworking business. I'm building bunk beds and lofts because I've read of others who have been successful with it. I also enjoy creating something that kids and parents enjoy.
